My friends and I went to the main floor lounge tonight. We initially sat at the bar which honestly was not the greatest experience. All of the staff seemed like they had a bad case of the Mondays, 7 days a week. We eventually moved to a table (side note the coconut shrimp were delicious). A young gentleman took over our table. I had a cough and asked him for a water. He asked if I would be okay with a hot water with lemon and ginger, I said yes. This amazing young man went above and beyond. That was what I needed. His calm, pleasant demeanour meant the world to me. I highly recommend SYED and the JW Marriott are very lucky to have this exceptional young man. Thank you. Sincerely, Linda Lee

Staff very friendly. Special shout-out to Ralph (hope I got this right) at reception. Hotel clean and modern. Nice pool/gym. Rooms not what I would expect of J.W. Marriott. Average size bedroom area. No individual lighting for bed, just one great big wall light 3 feet above the bedside table. Smaller bathroom than I would have expected (space taken up by adjacent wide entrance hall to room). Just one hook in bathroom, and vanity too small, especially if there had been two people. Hardly any storage space (used up by stock of towels). Not even one shelf on a wall for extra storage. 'Barn' door on washroom was awkward to use and heavy, and did not provide full privacy when closed. Shower area was good. Breakfast in 'Braven' was tasty, but pricey. Through no fault of the hotel, the area does have homeless people. Downtown Edmonton is like a classic mid-western city - nice people, lots of glass buildings, but too many parking lots and garages.

The JW Marriott in the Ice District is an exceptional place to stay and truly lives up to its luxury reputation. The room was absolutely beautiful—spacious, modern, and thoughtfully designed with high-end finishes that made it feel both elegant and comfortable. It was also immaculately clean, with every detail clearly well maintained, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The view was fantastic, adding an extra layer of enjoyment and making the experience feel special from the moment you walk in. The service was excellent across the board. Staff were professional, welcoming, and attentive, ensuring every detail was taken care of with ease and genuine hospitality. From check-in to departure, everything felt seamless and well managed. The amenities were equally impressive, offering everything you could want for a relaxing and upscale stay. Combined with the prime location in the Ice District, stunning and spotless rooms, outstanding service, and great amenities, the JW Marriott delivers a top-tier experience that’s easy to highly recommend.

I travel over 100 nights a year with the Marriott International portfolio of hotels and hold Lifetime Status. This year has included stops across Canada, the US, Central/South America, Europe, and the Middle East. I am privileged a few times a year, most recently this week, to stay at JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District. Great property - lounge, gym, and rooms. But what makes a property truly memorable is the staff. All the associates I have interfaced with have positive attitudes. But one person in particular – front desk guest associate Elizabeth – is beyond incredible. She is a true hospitality professional and speaks with me in a relatable, warm, and genuine manner. She makes me feel as if the hotel is stopping for a moment, just for me. I have spent months every year away from family, and Elizabeth understands this relationship. Yes, I pay money and in return get a room and receive service. I also appreciate the recognition of my loyalty and status. But it is people who, like Elizabeth, represent the odd exception, embodying a spirit of understanding that she and her hotel represent my surrogate family when I’m on the road for extended periods. In my humble opinion, after only 37 years of delivering my loyalty to Marriott, this property should ensure they retain Elizabeth, by recognizing her incredible hospitality knowledge and skills by moving her into a leadership role. That is where she belongs – managing a team of hospitality associates and instilling in them her knowledge, skills, warmth, and true compassion for the guest. Bill Marriott Jr., if you ever come across this comment, Elizabeth is a winner and would have made your father proud.

Me and my fiancée had an incredible experience at the JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District. The service was absolutely amazing. The staff truly go above and beyond to make your stay memorable and comfortable. I took my fiancée there for Valentine’s Day, and they surprised us with a personalized card printed with her name, which was such a thoughtful and special touch. The dining options were fantastic, and the Alchemy Bar was a standout — great atmosphere and excellent drinks. The pool and hot tub were also highlights, with an amazing view that made it even more relaxing. Everything about our stay exceeded expectations. Highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for luxury, thoughtful service, and a memorable experience in Edmonton.

I rarely write reviews but the service at this Hotel was incredible. I would like to sincerely thank the Front desk Team and Yuliya for their warm hospitality during my stay. Yuliya went above and beyond, was extremely friendly and attentive, decorated the room with balloons and prepared a surprise. We really appreciated the upgrade to a Deluxe room - it made our Birthday celebration even more enjoyable. Thank you for making us such welcome guests.

We stayed for a week at the JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District during a team-building trip that included attending the Edmonton Oilers vs. Carolina Hurricanes game at Rogers Place. The location of this hotel is excellent. Being directly connected to Rogers Place made attending the game incredibly convenient. You can walk straight to the arena from the hotel. The hotel itself is modern, clean, and very comfortable. We paid around $700 per night for the room, and overall the property does reflect a luxury experience. The rooms were well maintained, the beds were comfortable, and the service from staff during the week was professional and consistent. The only issue worth mentioning is the situation outside the hotel. . There were dozens of homeless individuals and people struggling with drug use directly in front of the entrance on multiple occasions. While I understand this is a broader downtown issue and not something the hotel fully controls, at a $700-per-night price point guests expect a stronger sense of security when entering and leaving the property. It would be good to see more visible security or some additional measures around the entrance so guests feel safer arriving back at the hotel, especially in the evenings

All I can say is excellent. The apartments above are impressive, the fifth-floor terrace and indoor community space are well designed, and the restaurant offers outstanding food and service. The hotel is also an exceptional venue for business meetings or special events, with professional management and well-maintained facilities.
